In 2011 we undertook the design and build of our first new build commercial project, a boutique shopping block in Merivale, on the corner of Merivale Lane and Papanui Road, Christchurch. The project incorporated a number of disciplines, with off site structural manufacture coupled with onsite shop fitouts. This particular project had its first tenants move in just 12 weeks after commencement.
A good deal of our commercial work has comprised of upgrading existing units to 67%+ NBS following the introduction of minimum earthquake strength standards, in Christchurch. The are multiple ways the we have approached and upgraded commercial buildings, dependent upon the type and age of the structure, ground conditions and extent of existing damage (if any). We are able to apply this knowledge to a variety of commercial building styles, and willing to travel nationally to undertake the upgrade process, mandated by government. Most buildings can be cost effectively bought up to code with the right approach, specific to the building type and size.
